Internet marketing and SEO gurus are all crazy about link building. You can find thousands of blog posts and articles related to “link building”, “link baiting” and so on and so on. Yes, Google, Yahoo, MSN etc. love when a site has lots of backlinks. If these links come from the powerful sites (meaning they have many backlinks too) - it’s even greater. All these strategies may work, I won’t try doubting that right now. But hey, what’s the point? Why should an average blogger think about all this stuff?

Actually, I love Google for searching. It still delivers the best results for me. I have my own little test of a search engine — search for my own name. Having done it regularly for some time, and knowing pretty much the full set of material out there, Google still comes out on top. I am, of course, rooting for MSN Search and know it will be just a matter of time before the playing field is more equal.

Yes, I mean it! These doorways, cloaked pages and keyword stuffed websites make me feel I’m plainly taken by all these guys and the only thing they care about considering my search attempts is money! God save the white SEO, God damn those spammers! You see, I’m just an ordinary Internet geek. I enjoy surfing the web, and I frequently use the Internet as the primary source of various information (i.e. for my studies, work etc.)

The internet is infuriating 99% of the time and sites like this with their “free membership” tricks just make it less of a resource tool, as it was meant to be, and more of an endless conglomerate of scams and quick buck ideas.

Ok, people, please don’t tell me I can use all these banner cutting programs to eliminate those annoying banners. I know that. But I don’t want to cut everything. I understand that some sites need banner advertising to keep on existing. But why the hell would people put loads of that stuff on the page?! From time to time I come across the sites, which have been created to serve banner ads. That’s their only and main goal. They stuff their pages with the automatically generated content and load ‘em up with banners - text blocks from AdSense or these horrible graphics monsters!

Have you ever experienced problems with accessing your AOL mail? Then you know what kind of distraction it is - you are waiting for a letter from a friend and this mtf aol mail doesn’t allow you access it. Yesterday I was sitting in the kitchen, drinking beer when my wife intruded yelling: “I hate this America Online! I can’t access my AOL mail!”.
