I bought the 106 in November 2004, and I thought it was a nice nippy little motor, and I was chuffed, but for £3000 it was not worth it. It had no ABS, no power steering, and as I found out due to understeer… NO AIRBAG! It said it had one, but at 50mph, you’d think it would work.

All in all I find this a lenny-letdown compared to other model pugs out there, the 13″ wheels are usually steel, and weigh more than 20″ alloys. If you want a Peugeot for a similar price, look at the 206 and get a diesel, even a 1.1 petrol engine drinks like a fish.

The car sustained some damage on the cross member underneath the radiator, which instantly wrote me off, on any other car I think it would be repairable. If you are a first time driver, look around and find something else, like a 1.0 fiesta.

A door from the main dealer would cost you £600, and they dent easily, so if you lock it and it doesn’t shut properly, don’t try to just push it into place, it will cost you!
