i am a former dhl delivery driver, and a darn good one i would like to think. i loved the town i delivered to and the route i had was a very tough one. i wanted to move back to my home state and was asking my dhl supervisors and customer service represntatives to keep an eye open for potential jobs i could move into at my new location seeing as how i could not transfer because most dhl hubs are contracted out. nothing came open. so i moved back to my home state and composed a resume and submitted it to the dhl office in my new area. thinking that i have a good chance because of years of experience in airborne and dhl would help me get a driving job again, i was opptumistic. well i got a call for an interview. and they offered me a some bull crap deal that would start me out at 7.50 an hour. seeing as how it was difficult enough for me to find a job in the first place because of the pyles of misinformation my family gave me. the job i had at the time was a stepping stone till i found something better was paying me only $9.00 per hour which was $1.50 more than dhl would pay me and a hell of a lot closer than the nearest hub. i would like to think that if i was good enough driver that an executive from the home office of airborne express flew out to my location and was eager to meet me and had heard a lot of praise and positive anticipation of my return to that route from customers all over town i might add, that i would somewhat be kinda regaurded as an asset. at the time of my interview i was in the process of becoming a fed ex gound/home delivery driver. they did not have high expectations of me because the route i was going to take on was a real nasty one 2,500 streets in a single town and 90% of which were dead ends. you had to in most cases go down 5 streets to get to your targeted street just to have to turn around and go back the way you came. i did it with 2 days training and the managers all bragged about me and used me as an example. you do not get too many people calling in to give you praise but i got 2 calls in a 90 day period and they were floored. so, i think i have some bragging rights on how good of a driver i am. if dhl doesn't care, this statement should be a warning to any potential candidates for a driver for DHL.
