Lack of vehicles safety - do they care?
Automotive Industry December 19th, 2005Modern automotive industry is now realizing that safety becomes the most considered aspect for those who plan to buy a new car. This is very pleasant to hear, because until recently, the automotive industry was plagued with a race: quantity, quantity and quantity ahead of quality. And that is very sad.
Despite the vehicle safety inspection, vehicles leaving the assembly lines are far from ready to be driven on the public highways without any danger for life in case of an accident. Many accidents are occurring because of bad brakes, stuck accelerator pedals, and gearshift misconduct, just to name a few. The car manufacturers don’t want to accept responsibility until the government makes them to.
Of course, the safety issue should also be considered by the dealerships. A safety inspection by the dealer’s own service department could eliminate some of these hazards on the road. Of course, there are things which can occur only during the active driving, but a test drive by someone representing the dealer could eliminate a few of these manufacturing defects.
To my mind, serious measures should be taken to improve the situation. However, as I have already mentioned, the situation slowly improves. And not because the car manufacturers have realized they are responsible for our lifes. Far from that. They want our money and they have to satisfy our safety demands to win it.
