When in a chat room, you’d better stick to the topic everyone is discussing at the moment. When you go off topic, lots of abuse is put at you. People don’t like those who start posting the offtopic messages as they think this abuses the current situation and everyone who has been in the chat room until you ame and started this very off topic discussion.

Of course, people throwing abuses on the off topic starter, are usually being thrown out of the chat room if they are too rude. But it is easy to understand them. When I’m in a chat room talking about birds, cars or whatever, I don’t want some guy to enter it and start disrtacting people from the discussion by posting the off topic messages about president Bush or whatever.

I don’t think it is smart to off topic in a niche chat room. There are plenty of chat rooms and message boards where you can talk of whatever you like, so there’s no need to off topic in the niche chat rooms where people discuss the exact subjects they are interested in.

Now I don’t talk about the annoying advertising messages which often appear as an off topic. These guys are poor jerks and don’t understand they only bring harm to their business. No. I’m talking about those who deliberately enter a chat room to start the off topic discussion. Sometimes these people work in groups so the off topic messages can stuff up the screen.

I can’t understand them. Is is that funny? Personally I hate when they go off topic.
